How-To: Share Your PC’s Ethernet Connection via Wi-Fi

Want to share your ethernet (wired internet) with your costly new smartphone or, your shiny new iPod Touch ??

 But, you found yourself a little reluctant in taking out 2k from your pocket for a wireless router ??  

 

No worries, You can share your ethernet without any extra cost & the best part : it takes only 2 min. 47 sec. !! ( Yes, I timed it..)

 

Things Needed:

1.   An internet connection

2.    A PC with a Wi-Fi Card 


That’s all...

 

Let’s Begin:

1.   Connect to the internet as you normally do.

2.   Then, open Network & Sharing Center.

3.  Click Change Adapter Settings.

4.   Right Click Local Area Connection, from the pop-up menu open Properties.

5.   Go to the Sharing Tab.

6.   Check both the check boxes &, in the drop-box select, Wireless Network Connection.

7.  Then, open Network & Sharing Center again.

8.  Click Set up an new connection or Network.

9.  From the list select Wireless ad-hoc Network, click next.

10.  Click Next.

11.   Type in any Network Name, select Security Type, set a fancy Password. Then, Click Next.

12.   Then, click Close.

13.   Then, just turn on your Wi-Fi on your other device on which you want to access the internet, in my case an iPod Touch, the network should show up. (here, Shared Wireless)

14.   Connect using that network .  


15.   Voila ! Done….

Advantages :

  1. Enjoy wireless internet without a wireless router !
  2. It can save you some bucks when you are at a hotel which charges for every device you want to connect.
